The music was written by Andy Rourke in the spring of 1989. The full song was recorded during the "Bona Drag" sessions at Hook End Manor in the winter of 1989 into 1990, with producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. Musicians on this recording were Kevin Armstrong (guitar), Matthew Seligman (bass), Andrew Paresi (drums) and Steve Hopkins (piano).

This song has only been played live 47 times in total. It was on the setlist for 14 consecutive concerts between 5 July and 27 August 1991, in the middle of the Kill Uncle tour. It then returned on the 2014 tour when it was played every night on the American leg and a further 16 times out of 32 dates in Europe.
