Promotion:
UK: This album seems to not have been promoted in the UK otherwise than by simple ads in the music press. The 1995 reissue on Parlophone was promoted with the inclusion of "Interesting Drug" on a various artists cassette titled "Drive! The Ultimate Cruisin' Tape" given away with a 1995 issue of Q Magazine.

Australia: The album was promoted with the help of a 4-track 12" (EMI Australia RP213) of b-sides that did not make the album. The tracks are "Girl Least Likely To", "Michael's Bones", "Sister I'm A Poet" and "I Know Very Well How I Got My Name". View artwork in left menu.

Brazil: The release of "Bona Drag" was promoted in Brazil with stock copies of the LP with a white and red promo warning sticker on the back of the sleeve. A 8-track various artists EP (EMI-Odeon 9951 221) featuring "November Spawned A Monster" is assumed to also have served as a promo for "Bona Drag", as the latter song was not released as a single in Brazil.

Greece: Promo copies of the LP are stock ones with a Greek promo sticker on the front of the sleeve, sometimes paired with a press release.

Japan: Promo cds are stock ones with a red and white promo sticker on the back and 'sample not for sale' etched around the cd's inner ring. A promo cassette (Toshiba EMI TOCP-6472) presumably served advance and more limited promotional purposes.

USA: This album was promoted in the USA with the help of a special promo cassette of the full album (Reprise 4-26221). "Piccadilly Palare" was included on volume V of Warner's "Follow Our Trax" various artists promo/sampler series. The latter compilation was pressed on compact disc (Warner Bros PRO-CD-4557), perhaps also on cassette (PRO-C-4557) and allegedly also on LP (PRO-A-4557) but this is doubtful.

Quotes

In an interview to Len Brown published in the November 1990 issue of Vox, Morrissey said: "People will view [Bona Drag] suspiciously in England but not in the rest of the world where all those funny little singles were never released. It was initially for the rest of the world, but EMI were determined to release it here [in the UK]."
