"Life Is A Pigsty"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

These words are transcribed without permission the way they appear in Morrissey's "Ringleader Of The Tormentors" album. Additions to the printed lyrics are in darker text while omissions are striken out.

It's the same old sos
but with brand new broken fortunes
and once again I turn to you
once again I do, I turn to you 1
It's the same old sos
but with brand new broken fortunes
I am the same underneath
but this you
...you surely knew?
    life is a pigsty
    life is a pigsty
    life is a pigsty
    life is a pigsty
    life, life is a pigsty
    life, life is a pigsty
    life, life is a pigsty
    life is a pigsty
And if you don't know this, then
what do you know?
every second of my life
I live only live for you 2
and you can shoot me
and you can throw me off a train
but I still maintain
I still maintain:
    life, life is a pigsty
    life is a pigsty
And I've been shifting gears all along my life
but I'm still the same underneath 3
this you surely knew?
    I can't reach you 4
    I can't reach you
    I can't reach you anymore
Can you please stop time?
can you stop the pain?
I feel too cold
and now I feel too warm again
can you stop this pain?
can you stop this pain?
even now, in the final hour of my life
I'm falling in love again
again
even now, in the final hour of my life 5
I'm falling in love again
again
again
again
I'm falling in love again 6
again
again

again.

1 On the third leg of the Tour Of Refusal Morrissey sang "once again I turn to you, yes you!".

2 In live performances Morrissey usually sings "I have lived only for you".

3 On the 2007-2008 Greatest Hits tour and on the 2009 Tour Of Refusal and Swords Tour, Morrissey usually sang "how come I'm still the same underneath".

4 On the third leg of the Tour Of Refusal and on the Swords Tour Morrissey replaced all three occurrences of "I can't reach you" with "I can't help you".

5 On the Greatest Hits tour in 2008 and on the first leg of the 2009 Tour Of Refusal Morrissey usually changed this line to "even now, yes now". He stopped doing this by the latter tour's third leg.

6 On and off on the Tour Of The Tormentors MMVI, particularly at the beginning and the end of that tour, Morrissey replaced this line by "I am in love again". On the 2007-2008 Greatest Hits tour and on the 2009 Tour Of Refusal the latter change was standard.
