"The Boy Racer"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

These words are transcribed without permission the way they appear in the "My Early Burglary Years" album. Additions to the printed lyrics are in darker text while omissions are striken out.

He's just too good natured, and 1
he's got too much money, and 1
he's got too many girlfriends
(I'm jealous, that's all)
- but have you seen him go, though?
have you seen him go, though?
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing 2
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing
2
He's got too many girlfriends 3
he thinks he owns this city
he over speeds and he never
gets pulled over
- but have you seen him go, though?
have you seen him go, though?
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing

He thinks he's got the whole 4
world in his hands 4
Stood at the urinal. 4
He thinks he's got the whole 4
world in his hands 4
and I'm gonna kill him 4,5
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no oh no
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing 2
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing 2
boy racer, boy racer
we're gonna kill this pretty thing
he's just too good looking 6
he's just too good looking
he's just too good looking
boy racer, boy racer 7
we're gonna kill this pretty thing 7
boy racer, boy racer 7
we're gonna kill this pretty thing 7

5 On many dates on the Outside tour, some early ones on the Maladjusted tour and on the "Later With Jools Holland" television programme in 1995 Morrissey sang the more family-friendly line "and I'm gonna tell him". As the 1997 Maladjusted tour progressed he often sang something that sounded like "and I'm gonna tch-ill him". On the 1999-2000 Oye Esteban tour he simply mumbled or hummed the words, breathed loudly or made funny noises.

6 Now and then on the Oye Esteban tour Morrissey changed this line to "I'm just too good looking".

7 These lines were absent in early acoustic versions of this song recorded during the Miraval sessions for the "Southpaw Grammar" album.
