This concert was an excellent one. Morrissey was at his best, he was very playful in his moves and with his lyrics. He ad-libbed many little bits here and there between song lines. He remained patient despite experiencing difficulties with his microphone again. Instead of letting it affect his performance, he listened into his microphone as if in a telephone and made faces to the sound guy. The crowd at the front was very appreciative and sang along to many of their favourite numbers. It was more quiet at the back, but by the end of the show the back woke up and joined the rest. After the barrage and assault from the audience the night before, security was noticeably increased to prevent a stage invasion.

For the benefit of fans attending many shows, the setlist was again completely scrambled and a lot of its content changed. The following titles returned: "You Have Killed Me", "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy", "Disappointed", "The National Front Disco", "Girlfriend In A Coma", "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want", "Ganglord", "Let Me Kiss You" and "Dear God Please Help Me". The following songs were temporarily dropped: "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side", "The Loop", "One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell", "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me", "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris", "That's How People Grow Up", "All You Need Is Me", "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" and "Life Is A Pigsty".

As he walked on stage Morrissey greeted the crowd by asking "It's approximately 9:15 on a Friday night, do you know where your parents are?" Besides other lyric changes in live performances of set opener "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" at the time he usually sang "and so I drank one or was it four?" but on this date he took this to "...or was it twelve?". He also sang "stop me if you think that you've this song before" and "stop me if you think that you've heard these words before". Over the song's closing bars he pointed to the drum head and shouted "Some... of... us... is... turning... nasty!", which was the text printed on the base drum's skin on this leg of the tour. After the song he shouted "You're brave, daredevil people!" He changed the first line in "You Have Killed Me" to "Pasolini is me, sometimes, tomorrow..." and made many more of this song's usual changes. After this he complained about the sound difficulties by telling the crowd "You think this is a stage? No. This is an operating table... and I am the slab and here is the nature of the struggle... Off we go, one-two!"

Amongst other adlibbed changes in "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy" Morrissey sang "because soon I will be dead, let's hope!" After the latter number he told the crowd "So what happens next? I don't know. Any ideas? Can you sing? I knew it..." The fan favourite "Irish Blood, English Heart" was introduced with the words "As you all know I began life with no advantages and it's all been downhill since then as exemplified in this tune..." After the song he added, for the benefit of his latino audience, "For some of you, of course, it could be 'Mexican Blood, American Heart' or... it could be even 'Mexican Blood, Mexican Heart'..." Following "Disappointed" he replied to someone "For example what? Julia, people are so nosey these days... they need to learn..."

After "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" Morrissey asked a fan "Are you well?" He bent forward as he was having a difficult time hearing her answer, and after a short time he gave up and said "I didn't hear what you said..." He then handed the microphone to someone else who asked Morrissey what he was hearing and said that from the crowd's angle it sounded wonderful. Morrissey replied "Well, I know you're trying to be encouraging... but that kind of stuff only works with children and ponies..." He then took a gift handed to him by someone else after asking them "For me?" He urged the band to start "Sister I'm A Poet" by saying "So therefore, now..." Next up "The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores" was introduced with the line "As you know, I've been on this earth for 32 years and there's one thing I've realised and... to confirm this you only have to look at the American music press... if there's one thing I've realised it's that the world is full of crashing bores..." After the song he asked "The world is full or crashing bores, is that... is that... is that debatable? Would anybody like to? Julia? No? No? What?" as he scanned the front rows for someone who might be able to answer. As he was only getting unsatisfying answers he just sighed in exasperation.

Over the opening bars of "I Like You" Morrissey told a fan "Very nice, did you write it yourself?" He altered a line in "Billy Budd" to "Say, Billy Budd, so you think that you could? But everyone's laughing... loudly!" After the song he told the crowd "Since we've taken our residency here at the Hollywood Palladium... since we have, twelve members of staff have killed themselves... Is there a link? I'm not sure but... it's worth noting. Boz?" In the crowd favourite "Jack The Ripper" he extended a line to "you don't agree, but you don't refuse... do you?" The latter song as well as "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" both moved the audience into a huge singalong that almost drowned Morrissey out. As if there was any doubt about their answer he followed the latter title with the question "Can you bear more? (crowd cheers) Prove it!"

In "Ganglord" Morrissey changed a line to "As we all know, the police can always be bribed". He usually changed one of the song's last lines at the time to "get your fat ass back to the ghetto", but on this date he also added "get your miserable ass back to the ghetto". After the song he told the audience "Thank you for listening for so long with both ears... here's to the future!" At the very beginning of "Let Me Kiss You" he sang "There's a place in the sun for anyone who has the nerve to chase me and I, I thought I found mine". Further into the song he sang "I've zig-zagged all over Los Angeles".

Following the 'explosive kegs' line in "Dear God Please Help Me" the audience cheered and hooted, but Morrissey remained serious and reprimanded with a "tsk! tsk! tsk! tsk!". Besides the numerous lyrics in "How Soon Is Now?" he sang "so you go and stand on your own, and you leave on your own, you just walk out, walk out..." When he returned to the stage for the encore his final words were "And if you don't come tomorrow night I'm gonna whop your ass!" After the encore's first line he told someone "Yes? What would you like me to do? Da-da-da-da!" As for the previous few dates the crowd went crazy. The braver fans crowd surfed their way to the front with the intention of landing on stage, or at least get a handshake from their idol. Many handshakes were given, but no one successfully made it on stage.
