This was all around a good show. Morrissey gave the best of himself, he was somewhat chatty although perhaps not as much as he can be. The crowd was not as energetic as Southern California crowds are known to be, but it was still appreciative. It woke up when the band launched into "How Soon Is Now?". Through the latter number and the encore it looked like everyone was trying to make it on stage. Only one fan was successful.

Once again Morrissey changed half the setlist for the benefit of people who were seeing many consecutive shows. On this date fans were treated to "The Youngest Was The Most Loved" for the first time on this leg of the tour. They were also treated to the rarely played b-side "Good Looking Man About Town". The other returns were "London", "You Have Killed Me", "Billy Budd", "Death Of A Disco Dancer", "Stretch Out And Wait", "Irish Blood, English Heart", "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" and "Let Me Kiss You". The following numbers were temporarily dropped: "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side", "The National Front Disco", "Lucky Lisp", "Ganglord", "I Will See You In Far Off Places", "I Like You", "Human Being", "That's How People Grow Up", "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy" and "Shoplifters Of The World Unite".

As he entered stage at the end of the Imperfect List intro Morrissey greeted the audience with the words "Welcome to the Lion's mouth!" At the end of "You Have Killed Me" he thanked the crowd in Italian ("Grazie!"). Following "Billy Budd" he told the audience, "Thank you for living dangerously, taking risks, being here and being you..." After the lesser known b-side "Good Looking Man About Town" he self-deprecatingly said "Thank you for applauding for a song that you don't know and that you don't like." Following "All You Need Is Me" he proceeded with the traditional introduction of the band. When he got to his bassist Solomon Walker he asked that "somebody scream."

Following "Death Of A Disco Dancer" Morrissey made a comment that was very well received by portions of the audience and not so well by others: "I'm quite certain that yesterday was Columbus Day and I'm baffled... I'm baffled by the fact that he is said to have discovered America when there were already people here (crowd cheers)... However, however this is usually said by people who actually think America is a white country. It never was... the reason why I'm baffled!" After new composition "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" he repeated the song's final lyric, "you'll make yourself plain." At some point he quoted from a song by his opening act Kristeen Young and said, "Everybody wants me to cry!"

As the band was taking too long launching into "Stretch Out And Wait" Morrissey intimated "For now!" Besides the usual live lyric changes in the latter number he also sang "it's the Manchester blood in my veins". Following the line "is there any point ever having children?" he handed the microphone to fans in the front rows who screamed "no!". Following "The Loop" he said the song had been made famous by Tiger Army, and followed that up with something about him having good taste. The latter band had recorded and released their own version of the song a few years earlier, and had ended up being asked by Morrissey to support him on the very first American dates of the Tour Of The Tormentors MMVI.

After "Tomorrow" Morrissey said "The whole point of life, if I may say so, is to make sense of this mess that is life..." Nobody cheered, probably because they were expecting him to say more on the subject. Morrissey looked like he didn't know what to add, handed the microphone to his favourite fan, asking her "Save me Julia!". She told him that she completely agreed with him. Over the length of the show Morrissey also chatted with other fans. He asked someone "where is he tonight?". To someone who shouted "Morrissey you look fabulous!" he asked "what did you say?" The fan repeated and Morrissey just laughed and said something like "That's what I thought you said..." Early in the set he told a female fan who had successfully made it over the barrier that she had been the first one to be 'man' enough to do it. Following this he felt he had to make it clear that he wasn't implying anything about her looks, but was referring to her bravery.

Following the Smiths classic "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" Morrissey asked Jesse if he liked Mark Ronson's cover of the song, and Jesse answered "absolutely not!". Following "One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell" Morrissey addressed his favourite fan again, this time to apologise: "Julia, I didn't mean to (something?)". In live versions of "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" at the time he usually changed the chorus to "let me have who I want", but on this date he sang a very hearfelt "so, just once in my life, just once, let me have who I want".

In "Let Me Kiss You" Morrissey changed a line to "I've zig-zagged all over Silverlake". When he took the stage again for the encore, he teased the crowd by saying "You're the one for me fatty..." The encore was "First Of The Gang To Die" and he added emphasis to its opening line by singing "You have never been in love until you've seen the stars reflect in the reservoirs... trust me!". He had a difficult time singing as he reached for the hands of fans who wanted to shake his or were trying their last chance at making it on stage.

This evening's additions "The Youngest Was The Most Loved" and "Good Looking Man About Town" were heard at soundcheck alongside a bunch of other songs that were about to return to the set in the following few days, such as "Jack The Ripper" and "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me", and others that would not end up being played on this tour, such as "The Never Played Symphonies" and "How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?"

No significant audio or video recordings of this show are to be found on bootlegs at this point in time. There is an audio audience recording out there, but it hasn't been shared much yet. Some footage of this date (source unknown) has been included on a bootleg 2-DVD set featuring material from all Morrissey shows at the Palladium in October 2007.
